+ | Hi Eugenepunk, I think that's a brilliant idea! I'm all for it, as long as the writers agree to it too. I will pass the info along to Alan and Dan and see what they think as well. It sounds really interesting to me personally, as well as being an amazing source of information on different zine scenes. As far as your brother's article on Early Irish Zines, as I think I told you before, I loved it and I thought it was great to have on Zine Wiki. + | Hi Eugene, I was just reading your most recent entries, and I definitely think you should do an article for "Stories Care Forgot". Zine Wiki has articles on a small amount of books that have a relationship to zines and this book most definitely qualifies! All your entries about these New Orleans zinesters and the zine tour and this book, and the connection with Ireland are all really interesting. + | Hi Eugene, I'm glad you don't mind that I've done a little editing, just typos and things. The article on Stories Care Forgot is great and really important to have, I think. Thanks for creating it. About the zinesters who move around a lot - I've been faced with that problem too and so I decided to create the category "Zines from the U.S.A." for the people who move from State to State and their zines move with them! It won't be much good for people moving from country to country but I am hoping that will help with the American zinesters at least! Anywa, keep up the great work on your articles, I love reading them! [[User:InvisibleFriend|InvisibleFriend]] 17:55, 8 October 2007 (EDT)

+ | ==Definitions and terms==
+ | |||
+ | Hi Eugenepunk, Thanks for writing to me about these issues. First, you were wondering about the term "Hardcore". Dan 10Things wrote a short article defining the term: [[Hardcore]], but feel free to expand it, as it is very short.
+ | |||
+ | Second, in regards the term "personal is political": I've not seen that term used in relation to zines before, except once or twice here at Zine Wiki, and I think it was in articles you had written, if I'm not mistaken! I'm familiar with the concept, and I believe you're correct, that it achieved popularity in the feminist movement of the early 1970's. Since it is a political concept or theory, rather than a movement, I would hesitate to create a category for the type of zine that may utilize that political stategy. Someone once created a category for zines that were "Political", but this can become problematic and a matter of opinion for many people; for instance, is punk "political"? Some might say 'yes' some might say 'no'! In that situation, you would have some zinesters who wanted their punk zines categorized as political and some who would not, so it seems more useful to me to categorize zines under categories that everyone can agree on. The category "Political" no longer exists, by the way. But if we thought this category could be useful we could always start it up again.
+ | |||
+ | In regards to articles on various methods and techniques that zinesters use in creating zines, I think it would be great if you wrote articles on the techniques you mentioned! Perhaps they will inspire other zinesters to try them out! I would suggest including examples of zine covers that use these techniques, so readers can see just what they look like too.

+ | |||
+ | The info you found about the Irish zines sounds good, Eugene. I know that the editor Belcoboy has added a lot of articles about zines from Australia with not too much info, since he found the information in a resource book and has never seen the zines. This is something we have to contend with, since zines haven't been saved, archived, and held in libraries until very recently. But since Zine Wiki wants to have an encyclopedia of zines, any info is good! One thing I've done in the past is to just do a search using Google (or whatever search engine you use) and it's surprising what you can find. Sometimes there are reviews that were posted on-line a few years ago and are still there, or personal websites for the zine on Geocities, or a brief description from a distro, or something. It's worth a try! Good luck!

Loserdom
I really liked the article in Loserdom on Irish fanzines and, as well, the article on A New Clear Threat. I hope you might consider writing articles on some of these zines for Zine Wiki! InvisibleFriend 16:40, 18 April 2007 (EDT)

Deletes
I've nominated a couple of articles for deletion and I'd be very interested in your opinion, whether pro or con. The articles are Featherproof books, Zach Dodson and My Pencil Lead Broke. If you could please leave your comments on the respective discussion pages of these articles, then we can all decide if the articles should stay or go. Thanks a lot Eugene! - Hi Eugene, First of all, thanks so much for you input on the pages up for deletion. Your involvement is appreciated! Second, I have a technical problem that I wondered if you could help with. You've uploaded a lot of zine covers, so I thought you might know what to do. I've uploaded several covers but I don't have a photoshop or an illustrator programme and so all the files are too large and I can't resize them. Is there anything I can do about that? Thanks for any help you can give me, I appreciate it! InvisibleFriend 21:45, 10 September 2007 (EDT)
Thank You!
Thanks SO much Eugene, I appreciate your help immensely! I have deleted the old, large size covers I uploaded. I was tryijg to put the cover on the Bleeding Swans page, and couldn't seem to manage to do it, but then all of a sudden it worked - but then I noticed that you were here, and that it was you that had actually done it! So, thanks a lot for that too!
I think your idea is a very good one. I will delete any older files that you resize, and I'll keep an eye on the new uploading of images so that I can see what you're doing and keep up with you as you resize them. Does that sound like a good plan? Let me know, and again, my very sincere thanks for your help! InvisibleFriend 04:23, 11 September 2007 (EDT)
- I noticed you resized the Aunt Franne cover, so thanks are in order once again, Eugene! At the risk of seeming picky, I wanted to ask if it would be possible to make a couple of the covers you did previously just a tiny bit bigger? They are Femme Flicke, The Burning Times and Bleeding Swans. Of course I know this isn't absolutely necessary and I wouldn't want them very much bigger, just an eighth of an inch, or two eighths. Obviously this isn't a high priority, but if you did ever have an extra minute or two, I would be very grateful. Thanks again! InvisibleFriend 23:05, 21 September 2007 (EDT)
- Thanks so much for resizing those covers Eugenepunk. You are right though, there is too much loss of clarity and the covers are even blurrier than before! I didn't think of the fact that you'd need the original jpeg to do this from, which is of course true, thanks for explaining that. What I did was to upload the originals again, so if you wouldn't mind trying one more time, even though it is a bother I know, I will be so thankful. The size you made them was perfect by the way! Sorry to be such a bother Eugenepunk. I really do appreciate all your assistance. InvisibleFriend 05:01, 22 September 2007 (EDT)

Hi Eugenepunk, I just saw that you've resized the covers and even put them on the pages. Thanks so much, they look absolutely great!
It's interesting what you wrote about the difference between hardcore zines and the earlier punk zines. Here in North America, it wasn't the case that the hardcore zines were more professional, for the most part, at least in the 1990's. Maybe that's something that has been happening more in the 2000's? It seems to me that as punk was more widely accepted in the 2000's, punk and hardcore zines, like Punk Planet, got more professional, and certainly there was more interest from publishers to do books with people like Aaron Cometbus and other punk zinesters. Is this what you were thinking of? I've been adding some new categories recently and I've just been trying to go through all the zines to add these categories. I just added "Category:Perzine"; so far I've looked through all the zines up to the letter 'G' to make sure I haven't left any out. As you might imagine, this takes a long time and there are a lot of perzines. Someone else created "Category:Veganism" and I've tried to include all the zines I could find on that topic. There wasn't as many, so I could just do a search for them. which made that easy. Also there's the new "Category:Goth" for any goth zines that are added and "Category:Hacking and Phreaking" for any zines about computer hacking and phone 'phreaking'. I'll try to post notices for everyone from now on regarding the new categories.If you add a bunch of zines on a specific topic that isn't covered we can add a new category for them too. Thanks again Eugene! InvisibleFriend 16:25, 22 September 2007 (EDT)
