Issue #1, 2001

Bone Response started as an bicycle messenger/art zine by Patrick Rieve, Malte Urbschat and Mark Wehrmann.

Three issues of Bone Response have been published in Hamburg, Germany between 2001 and 2003. Issue number four has been published 2009 under the name The Park is Mine.

All issues are included in the collection of the St. Patrick's Zine Library.


Bone Response 1"We've got a Message" was published in 2001. All authors were labeld with their numbers regarding to the daily radiotraffic while working as bicycle messengers. Contibutions by Alex 23, Dennis 04, Tibor 53, Tom 24, Mark 444 (Mark Wehrmann), Patty 56 (Patrick Rieve) and Malte 89 (Malte Urbschat).

Bone Response 2"We've got a Message" was published in Oktober 2001. Text contributions by Anic 422, Julia 446, Armin Chodzinski BR11, Mark Wehrmann 444, Patty 56 (Patrick Rieve) and as the foreign correspondent Tibor 53 who contributed the report of the Triple Six Haloween Race (2001) in NYC. Contributing artists: Harry Sachs, Malte Urbschat, Jens Förster, Mirek Macke, Alex, Mark and Patty.

Bone Response 3"Möchte noch jemand frei sein?" was published on the occasion of "go create resistance" at Deutsches Schauspielhaus in Hamburg, Mai 2003. Contributing writers: Armin Chodzinski, Karin Gyer, Anika Heusermann, Tom Holert, Ralf Kietzke, Michi 434, Tom Mohoow, Patrick Rieve, Mark Wehrmann (about the correlation between Kraftwerk & excessive biking).

Contributing artists: Till Krause, Patrick Rieve, Mark Wehrmann, Malte Urbschat and an anonymous art collective from Frankfurt.

Reviews about bike-messenger related books: The Immortal Class and 25 mio hongkong$: free:lance!. Also in this issue was a poem by Hannes Küpper ("He! He! The Iron Man!") about the Australian cyclist Reggie MacNamara (a roughhouse velodrome rider with a string of dramatic crashes and broken bones (1)).

The layout of Bone Response 3 was done by the Secret Service.

Bone Response 4 (2009) was created by Julia Bünnagel (The Space in Between) and Patrick Rieve under the name The Park is Mine.
