No Apologies
No Apologies was a zine by Tasha from Oshawa, Ontario, Canada.
No Apologies was a perzine that was first released in 1995 and ran for five issues, the last one released in 1998. It was a cut and paste zine influenced and inspired by the Riot Grrrl movement that came into prominence earlier in the decade. The editor wrote about the portrayal of women in the media, particularly in punk culture, in magazines such as Flipside and in Skateboarding magazines, but also in mainstream mass media culture. Tasha also writes about body image, stereotypes imposed upon both genders, marriage, and pornography for women. There are reviews of punk shows and critiques of sexist attitudes the editor encounters at those shows. Tasha is bisexual, and writes about prejudice she encounters, not only in the media but in real life. There is also an extensive interview with the band Better Than Your Hand, which begins in issue two and concludes in issue three. Also included is a listing of zines Tasha traded with, including Aggamenmong Moggie, Fist Fucked, Legs, Madwoman, Mamasita, Out Of Step, Power Candy, Pure Tuna Fish, Suburbia, V-Reject, and We.
Contributors to No Apologies included Jennifer, Lisa C., Leslie, and Anna V-Reject.
