Festival of the Photocopier (February 2008) is a zine festival organised by the Sticky Institute to celebrate Australia’s underground zine culture.
Festival of the Photocopier is supported by the City of Melbourne.

2008 program
- Friday 8 February, 5-7pm: Mixtape Zine issue 3 launch at Sticky. “Mixtape Zine is a collision of craft, eco-cool and pop culture kitsch and about making time for the small things. This hugely popular new crafty zine launches its third issue instore featuring all kinds of DIY delights.”
- Saturday 9 February, 12-4pm: The festival formally kicks off outside Sticky on Degraves Subway under Flinders Street, at 12pm, with a zine fair Melbourne Deputy Lord Mayor Gary Singer speaking of his especial love of zines at 3pm.

- Friday 15 February, 5pm: Ianto Ware talks on Adelaide’s warring zine factions at Sticky. “Ianto Ware, zinemaker extrodinaire and founder of the prestigous South Australian Institute of Photocopied Arts, provides a startling insight into Adelaide's zine scene and his personal road-map to peace. Actually, that's all crap, Ianto will not talk about that at all (unless we rally). He'll be discussing the history of the photocopier and his newest zine What Would Tin Tin Do.”
- Saturday 16 February, 12-1pm: State Library of Victoria Zine Collection viewings with John Stevens and Eloise Peace. Meet in foyer of State Library of Victoria 11.50pm. 15 places available.
- Saturday 16 February, 12-5pm: YOU letter writing at Sticky. "Write a letter to YOU as part of a marathon effort to produce 180 original hand-written letters for YOU’s weekly distribution around Melbourne, Australia and internationally through Microcosm Publishing."
- Saturday 16 February, 12-5pm: Comic rehab: the Melbourne support group at Sticky. “The February 2008 round of Comic Artist Rehab, organised by founder Amber Carvan, will include a Melbourne support group drawing session instore at Sticky all day this Saturday, with the work to appear in a later Comic Rehab publication. The Comic Artist Rehab program is a monthly online space which co-opts four artists to each draw a four-panel comic every four days for four weeks. Comics are uploaded daily to the project blog where friends, fans and others can offer advice, encouragement and throw underwear. In the event that a participant goes Lindsay Lohan, all efforts are made to locate them and re-admit them to the program. Interventions can be arranged."
- Wednesday 20 February, 6pm: Zines and anarchy at Sticky. "Far from being a world of chaos, the zine culture is a resilient community of people driven to make something of their own to share with others. Why have zines been able to survive capitalism at it's nadir? Can this freedom last? What does 'nadir' mean? Ask all these questions of our anarchist staffer Lu Shr."
- Thursday 21 Februrary, 6.15pm: Sleeptalker launch with Celery at Sticky. "Multi-faceted multi-tasking musical and zining wonder Celery. performs and launches her new zine Sleeptalker."
- Friday 22 February, 5.30-7pm: Anna Poletti gets personal at Sticky. "Author of an upcoming book on Australian zines by Melbourne University Press, and former Sticky volunteer, Anna talks about Australian perzine writing and uses examples from her extensive zine collection."
- Saturday 23 February, 12-5pm: An afternoon with Mavis McKenzie at Sticky. "One of the most anticipated events on the Australian zine calendar, Mavis McKenzie, of The life and times of Mavis McKenzie, joins us for an afternoon of memories, cut and paste tips and cups of tea as she outlines her remarkable zinemaking career. Possible guest appearance by Clive Waffle."
- Wednesday 27 February, 5.30-7pm: The 27 Club: Foffle launch issue 27 at Sticky. "Music and mayhem will prevail. Remember the muso's who, too cool for skool, died at the age of 27. Ponder the numerology of it all to the customised Foffle 27 mix-tape soundtrack for the launch."
- Thursday 28 February, 5pm: TTO on the photocopier revolution at Sticky. "Melbourne's Legendary TTO of Collective Effort Press talks the art of copying in the arts, from Roneo machines to using hand-me-down obsolete industrial printing presses to the photocopier revolution. TTO talks about the first generation of photocopied arts with assemblage magazines; photocopier bootlegging vs Penguin Books with the Portnoy's Complaint in 1969; and the risks of accessing the first photocopier technology in the workplace when you needed machine authorisation. And that's just the beginning."
- Thursday 28 February, 5-6pm: State Library of Victoria Zine Collection viewings with John Stevens and Eloise Peace. Meet in foyer of State Library of Victoria 4.50pm. 15 places available.
- Friday 29 February, 4-6pm: Web: the new reality arrives at Sticky. "All hail the Great Lord Web and ten years of the New Reality."
- Saturday March 1, 3-4pm: Erinsborough exploits / YOU / Web: split zine launch at Sticky. "Three of Melbourne's regular zines join stapler forces with a three way zine and an appearance by Neighbours."
