Golana
Golana was a science fiction zine published by the Polytechnic Institute of New York for the Brooklyn Polytechnic Science Fiction Club, Brooklyn New York, U.S.A. in the 1960s.
The first issue appeared in December 1963, edited by Edward V. Dong. Jeff Bienenfeld was the editor for some of the earlier issues and John E. Hoffman was the editor for the later issues. 12 issues were released in total, the last issue published in Spring 1970.
Harold Egein, writing for the Brooklyn Daily Eagle, reports in his article "B'klyn Science Fiction Is 'Out Of This World', "NYU-Polytechnic University has a legendary fanzine dating to the early Space Age, Golana. It was first published in 1963 by the Brooklyn Polytechnic Science Fiction Club (using the earlier name for the school). The inaugural issue was dedicated to science fiction writer Edward Smith, according to the Bern Dibner Library website."
Issue #11 (Spring 1969) contained writing by Michael T. Bergman, Reginald Berry, Edward V. Dong, D.R. Gilbert, Ed Goodwin, Charles F. Grab, Carl T. Grasso, Bob Heman, John Hoffman, Neil Hudson, Leroy Odom, Dave Peloquin, and Ramos.
Cover art was by Dan Adkins (Sata Illustrated). Michael Bergman, Jaroslaw Gidej, Anthony Kurpako, Alan Litwin, Doug Lovenstein, Robert Mattson, Dave Peloquin, and James Scaglione provided interior illustrations.
