Beer Frame

Beer Frame zine features a wide variety of product reviews that, after reading, will make your shopping experiences forever changed. Intrinsic to editor and publisher Paul Lukas' reviews is that the design of a product is just as important as its function. In an interview in Kickstand #9 Lukas said the "first issue was in October of '93 and was basically a busy-work assignment that I gave myself during a period when I had some free time and needed something to do. I ran off 550 copies on the office Xerox machine when nobody was looking."

Beer Frame was featured in The Factsheet Five Zine Reader and Lukas was one of those zinesters that got a book deal through his zine at the height of zines getting national attention. In 1997 he authored Inconspicuous Consumption: An Obsessive Look at the Stuff We Take for Granted, from the Everyday to the Obscure, which covered similar subject matter to what was in his zine.

Beer Frame is included in the Sophia Smith Zine Collection at Smith College and the Sarah and Jen Wolfe Zine Collection at The University of Iowa.
