A Newsletter is a publication designed to provide readers with news.
Frequently distributed free of charge, newsletters vary widely from small circulation publications for a select audience to large circulation publications intended for as large a readership as possible. Newsletters, along with Pamphlets are one of the forerunners of the zine.
Newsletters are generally text based publications. They are sometimes printed on newsprint, sometimes photocopied, and intent on circulating news of interest to their readership.
The publications distributed by the Amateur Press Association were mainly newsletters in the early days of its existence and they still form a large part of the publications distributed in this manner.
