Soapbox Zine Library is a zine library in Philadelphia, Pa.
As a part of the Philadelphia Independent Publishing Center, it collects a wide variety of zines and artists books.
History
The Soapbox Zine Library was started by Mary Tasillo and Charlene Kwon. In 2010 a house was purchased in the neighborhood of West Philadelphia to house the zine library and community print shop.
The official opening reception for Soapbox was held on March 26, 2011. As part of the festivities, there were readings by Caroline Garcia Ziegler (okay hooray), Theresa Antoff, Laura Beyer, Bonnie MacAllister (Certain Circuits), Johanna Marshall (of "Mary is Reckless" zine) and Anni Altshuler & Leah Mackin (of Holly Holly Hobby Hobby).
