Envy the Dead
From ZineWiki
Jump to navigationJump to searchThe eclectic zine, Envy the Dead, had a run of four issues between 1992 and 1994.
The zine, published in Kansas City and Minneapolis, targeted an audience of "psycho-hop dawdlers," and comprised frenetic collage art, paeans to Run-DMC, enigmatic bits of short fiction, and extensive social critique, including extensive analyses of nanotechnology and the implications of nuclearism by editor David Mac. One review summed it up thusly: "there sure are a lot of words in that zine!"
Envy the Dead and David's friendship were the inspiration for Cynical Soul zine, and the founding of the Midwest Underground Media Symposium. See Cynical Soul for the story.
