Manic Street Preachers fanzines
A consistent fanzine culture has existed around the Welsh band Manic Street Preachers since their early fame in the 1990s.
Notable zines such as R*E*P*E*A*T started off as Manics fanzines and have gone on to feature wider bands and music. Last Exit was written by Jacqui Blake and Carrie Askew, who would go on to be in the Manics' video for Little Baby Nothing and to become the pop band Shampoo.
You Love Us a Manics fanzine convention was held by fans in London in 1998. Welsh Assembly, another fan convention was organised by Terrible Beauty zine writer Mary O'Meara, including a 20 table zine fair at Cardiff's Sherman Theatre in 1999. An accompanying exhibition at the Cardiff convention curated by artist Jeremy Deller produced a The Uses of Literacy zine published by Publish And Be Damned.
