Icy Student
Icy student was written, photo copied and glued together by Glenn Durham and Paul Dyne in Austin and Houston Texas during the years of 1993-1996.
The format was stream of consciousness writing loosely reviewing and describing 20 artists/songs per issue. The writing style merges a copyright infringing approach with a lay out of stolen artwork. Icy Student contained the raw artistic style of cut and paste that helped to make this zine perfect for reading any time but it was epically enjoyable to read in the wee hours of the morning. Usually the reader is obsessively careful not to read all eight pages at one time ( and thereby extinguishing any shred of hope that the reader might have left) Nervous glances around are not able to slow down the reader as he is Still buried inside Icy Students paper thin covers. Shameful thoughts occur inside the subconsciousness as his guilty eyes read on to the end of page eight. The period marked the end of the last sentence on the last page and now the truth of the matter is starting to set in. His gluttony is seemingly able to play catch with his feeling of guilt. Both feelings are the result of the fact that the reader was unable to put Icy student down, unable to stop and save some insane printed goodness for later.
