Grrrl Zines A Go-Go

Grrrl Zines A-Go-Go is an all-women workshop group based in Southern California. Since 2002 they have been facilitating workshops in community venues and college campuses in their region. They focus on the empowerment of young women through the production of fanzines and self published works.

History

Formed in 2002, the instigator of the group was Elke Zobl, founder of the Grrrl Zine Network. As a visiting graduate student from Austria, Elke networked with local zinesters in San Diego. She hooked up with Margarat Nee, creator of Oya and Radical Pet, Glue Magazine’s Claudia Lucero, Kim Riot, creator of Grrrl Noire and Cyclette, and Wives Tale’s editrix Britton Neubacher. Claudia and Britton left the main collective to pursue their careers in 2004. Ari Perezdiez of HousewifeXcore Distro joined the collective in August of 2004 as a guest speaker and formally joined in December 2004. Read More...
