The Kitten Kore was a punk-feminist art fanzine created by Los Angeles artist Gabie Strong (of the indie band Canopy/Pussywillow).
The Kitten Kore featured writing by Strong and other young women covering topics in early 90s music subculture, mainstream gender (mis)representation, and also featured college, painting, drawing and photography. Five volumes, from 1990 - 1994, were published. Volumes 2 - 5 were associated with Riot Grrrl. All volumes were included in the Riot Grrrl Press collection. Note sometimes this zine is misspelled as "Kitten Core."
The Kitten Kore is included in the Sarah and Jen Wolfe Zine Collection at The University of Iowa, the Darby Romeo Collection of Zines in the Performing Arts Special Collections, UCLA, the Arielle Greenberg Zine Collection, and the Sarah Dyer Zine collection at the Sallie Bingham Center for Women's History and Culture at Duke University Libraries.
