Bubblegum Slut was a music-based zine, edited by Alison B, and published in Essex, UK. The zine produced 38 issues between September 2000 and June 2011. Content focused on glam, sleaze, goth, industrial, punk, rockabilly and psychobilly sounds. Notably, the cover of each issue was adorned with a small patch of fake-fur, usually cut into a heart shape.
While early issues were black and white throughout and averaged around 40 A5 pages, the zine grew significantly over it's eleven years in print, with Issue 20 introducing full colour covers and a typical 80 page count. From Issue 27 onwards, each edition included a free sampler CD.
Although essentially a music zine Bubblegum Slut also ran regular features on art, literature, fashion, film, and various interesting characters suiting the sleazy vibe of the music it covered. Name artists, such as the New York Dolls, Justin Hawkins and The Wildhearts, often shared page space with new acts, club promoters, sex workers and notorious groupies.
