The Philadelphia Zine Fest began in 2003 and is currently in it's fourth year.
Mission Statement
Our goal is to embrace written and verbal communication as much as possible without constraints. At the zine fest, be prepared for everything from personal experiences to artistic talent to first-hand politics. Trading of information is in abundance, and in many formats.
History
Now in our 4th year, the event has been held in West Philadelphia at the Rotunda, in the busy, urban setting of University of Pennsylvania. Started by Casey Grabowski and Andrea Hallowell, who felt there was little to no outlet for zine culture in the greater Philly area until the Zine Fest.
Registration is on a sliding scale: free for smaller/per-zines, and a nominal fee for larger scale magazines and distros. This helps keep a nice mix of media. We also have workshops and related events planned around the city throughout the weekend. We are always looking for help organizing and promoting to help keep the event fresh and exciting.
Turnout is usually good, with up to several hundered people throughout the day. Lots of local/walk-through traffic. Visit the website for more info or to sign-up.
