Berman started up his Semina magazine in 1955 and only published it with a very small circulation. Five of the nine editions were produced during his time in San Francisco and the Bay Area. Semina could neither be purchased nor ordered.
Some editions consist merely of loose sheets of paper in designed envelopes.
