The importance of being Evan (200?-) is a zine by Adelaide, SA, Australia zinester Evan Smith. Smith writes about his impetus for creating this zine in the introduction to Issue 4 (February 2006): "This zine is... about the things I muse over and probably a continuing theme of punk rock, zines, left-wing politics and terribly tired topics that most of you have been bored by in the past. Philistines just don't get me. That's the Importance of being Evan."
