The Skirt (May 2007-) is a monthly zine by Chloe Hughes, a zinester and artist from Sydney, NSW, Australia.
The author's art practice focuses on social conventions, questioning issues of normality and familiarity, she describes her practice as follows: “An object may embody a dynamic signification if an individual's interaction with that object is continuous. The perception of an object by an individual is as variable as the perception of an object amongst a group of individuals.”
The Skirt aims to explore the consequences of this perception for communication, while also presenting a highly subjective and personal self-portrait. The zine was exhibited in Correspondence the 2007 MCA Staff Show, 10 May-27 May 2007.
