Zines can be any size or format, since there is no strict definition of what a 'zine' is.
In the 2000s, a small group of zine creators began issuing very small zines and wanted differentiate themselves from other zine makers by calling their zines mini zines. Although these zines are really no different than any other zine, within this category these zine editors decided to define a mini zine as being smaller than 5" x 8".
