Flat four zine is published by Flat four radio, an indie/experimental internet radio station based in London, UK. The first issue appeared in late 2004, and was initially designed by its creators, Philippa Law and Dan Stowell, to be a more readable alternative to distributing flyers promoting the station.
The zine continues to discuss music and programmes on the station, but now also includes short articles and occasional cartoons about other projects its creators are involved in. Regular features include diagrams demonstrating unusual methods of making music (a spin-off of the Oddmusic radio show), record reviews and live music reviews.
Flat four zine is issued irregularly in a tiny format: each zine is one double-sided A4 sheet folded into six. It is sold at music festivals, in a handful of independent record shops around the UK, and by mail order via the website.
