Pop-Up Shops

From time to time Radiator Comics runs pop-up comic shops at local galleries in Miami. These have included workshop programming and chances for local artists to consign their work.

Radiator Comics Studio

In 2020, Radiator Comics Studio launched a series of online programming and print publications dedicated to supporting and growing the cartooning community in South Florida and beyond. Some events require online registration.

  • Open Studio: A Zoom meeting every Friday from 4:00 – 6:00pm EDT for comic artists to drop in and work. The two hour program is broken up into four 20-minute silent work periods starting at 4:00, 4:30, 5:00, and 5:30pm, with 10-minute breaks in between to stand up, stretch, grab water, and to socialize.
  • Feedback Space: A chance to seek feedback on work in small groups of 3-4 cartoonists. No regular schedule.
  • Cartoonist Coffee: A Zoom meeting twice monthly on Sundays for randomly paired chats with small groups of other artists.
  • Nuts & Bolts: Recorded talks by professional comics artists and writers, giving advice on various practical facets of comic creation.

Spiny Orb Weaver

An arts journal about cartooning in South Florida. Through a new commissioned comic and interview, each issue highlights one voice in the local comics scene. The back-pages feature cartoonists who have moved from the region. 3 issues have been published, in January, March, and May of 2021.
