Over the first five months, the zine went from being written primarily by one small group of friends to a more general zine featuring writers like [[Jay Lake]], [[Frank Wu]], [[Jason Schachat]], [[Lloyd Penney]], [[John Purcell]], [[Steve Green]], [[Judith Morel]], [[SaBean MoreL]] and [[M Lloyd]]. Over the first five months, the zine went from being written primarily by one small group of friends to a more general zine featuring writers like Jay Lake, Frank Wu, Jason Schachat, Lloyd Penney, John Purcell, Steve Green, Judith Morel, SaBean MoreL and M Lloyd. In 2006, The Drink Tank came in 7th in nominations for the Hugo Award for Best Fanzine. In 2007, it reached the final ballot for Hugo voting.
