Spaceways Vol.1 No. 1 1938

Spaceways was a zine by Harry Warner, Jr. published in the U.S.A.

Harry Warner published the first issue of Spaceways in November of 1938. Thirty issues appeared until the fanzine ended in 1942. James S. Avery was co-editor for the first issue only.

Contributors to the first issue include Forrest J. Ackerman (Imagination!), James S. Avery, Charles Deibler, Larry Farsaci (The Golden Atom), Dale Hart, Amelia Reynolds Long, Walter E. Marconette (Scienti-Snaps) and Jack Speer.

Beginning in 1939, Jack Chapman Miske (Scienti-Snaps, Bizarre) wrote a column entitled "Stardust", which was a regular feature in every issue until 1941.

Other issues contain writing by Joseph Mitchell Boyer, John W. Campbell Jr., Ted Carnell (Novae Terrae), Louis Russell Chauvenet, Leslie Croutch, (Light), Gerry de la Ree (Sun Spots, Loki), August Derleth, Larry Farsaci, Nils Helmer Frome (Supramundane Stories), Mary Gnaedinger, Dale Hart (later editor of Ichor), Damon Knight, Frederic Arnold Kummer Jr., Walt Liebscher, Amelia Reynolds Long, H. P. Lovecraft, Robert Madle (Fantascience Digest), J. Hollis Mason, Sam Moskowitz (Helios, New Fandom), Frederik Pohl (The International Observer of Science and Science Fiction), Seabury Quinn, J Michael Rosenblum (Futurian War Digest), Eric Frank Russell, Julius Schwartz (The Time Traveller), Earl Singleton (Nepenthe), Leslie F. Stone, Walter Sullivan, Bob Tucker, (Le Zombie), Julius Unger, Douglas Webster (The Fantast, Cthulhu), Mort Weisinger (The Time Traveller), Art Widner (FanFare, YHOS), Jack Williamson, and Tom Wright (Starlight), among others.

Contributing artists include Hannes Bok, Phil Bronson (Scienti-Comics, The Fantasite), John L. Gergen (Tycho), John Guinta (Amazing Wonder Tales, Cosmic Tales), Harry Jenkins, Jr. (Jinx), Robert Lowndes, William Palmer, Sherman Schultz, James V. Taurasi (Cosmic Tales, Fantasy-Times), Harry Warner, Sr., Art Widner, and Tom Wright.

During World War II Spaceways teamed with Bob Turner's Le Zombie to sponsor the "Fanzine Service" to get fanzines to people serving in the war.

Once Spaceways ceased publication, Harry Warner Jr, continued publishing his other title, Horizons.
