This zine is Kari's first perzine. In it, she recounts her transition between childhood and early adolescence, recalling a childhood summer during which she went barefoot nearly the entire summer. Kari senses the feelings on the soles of her feet as well as the impending end of childhood, hastened by a foot injury requiring a trip to the emergency room. The zine includes an epilogue inspired by Kari's present-day footwear preferences, as well as cut-and-paste illustrations.
In December 2017, D. Blake Werts wrote in Xerography Debt #42 that Shoeless Summer is "20 pages of 80s nostalgia. . .highly recommended."
