Horizontal Action Magazine was an underground rock, punk, and sex zine from Chicago, IL. 15 issues were published 1997 and 2005.

Horizontal Action published often the first interviews with bands like The Black Lips, Spits, Lost Sounds, Ponys, Reatards, The Clone Defects, Brides, Dirtbombs, Sexareenos, A-Frames, Hunches, Functional Blackouts and Tyrades. Along with it's rock'n'roll coverage, the zine featured fairly blatant nudity (not unlike The Probe). The main editors were Uncle Ted and Todd Killings, the head photographer was Canderson.

The photography and music coverage of HA had a big impact on readers, a few of which even uprooted themselves to move from hundreds of miles away to Chicago, to literally be 'closer to the action.' A community of bands and like-minded people grew around the zine, many of the individuals went on to start their own labels. After the magazine folded, the editors started VictimofTime.com and HoZac Records.

Horizontal Action staff also founded and hosted the Chicago Blackout Festival from 2001 to 2006.

Back issues of the magazine are currently available, an age statement is required to purchase the magazine.
