Hal Niedzviecki is a writer and co-founder of Broken Pencil. He lives in Toronto, Ontario and his writing has appeared in magazines like Adbusters, The Utne Reader and Toronto Life.

After editing Broken Pencil for 7 years, he took over the fiction editor position of the magazine and stayed on as publisher. He still holds both those roles. Though he continues to write for Broken Pencil, Niedzviecki also writes books - these include the Random House published The Program, and the Penguin published Hello, I'm Special and We Want Some Too: Underground Desire and the Reinvention of Mass Culture.
