Guinea Pig Zero is a zine dedicated to people who volunteer as medical research subjects.
Started in 1996 by Robert Helms, the zine is subtitled "A journal for human research subjects." Contributions include explorations of the history of human research experiments as well as personal accounts of "guinea pigs" (those who volunteer for testing). Guinea Pig Zero often features stories that point out the negative side of the "medical marketplace," including questionable practices such as failing to give volunteers full disclosure of potential problems. It also contains advice and reviews of test clinics.
