Ghosts & Scholars
Ghosts & Scholars was a small press publication by Rosemary Pardoe.
Ghosts & Scholars followed Rosemary Pardoe's previous fanzine Wark. The first issue appeared in 1979. 33 issues were released, the last in 2001. It was a literary zine devoted to horror and supernatural literature and featured essays, articles, fiction, art work, and letters of comment. Some of the authors discussed in its pages belonged to the "James Gang", the circle around M.R. James, but not all. Some authors featured included Cecil Binney, Ramsey Campbell, John Dickson Carr, Edmund Crispen, Arthur Gray, Jane Ellen Harrison, Sarah Orne Jewett, Russell Kirk, Margery Lawrence, Joseph Sheridan Le Fanu, Fritz Leiber, H. P. Lovecraft, Joseph Cecil Maby, Gladys Mitchell, Seabury Quinn, Ruth Rendell,, L.T.C. Rolt, Arthur Topes, Eleanor Scott, E.G. Swain, and Christopher Woodforde.
