Dark Dreams was a small press publication by David Cowperthwaite, Jeffrey Dempsey, and Mark Valentine.

Dark Dreams was a literary zine devoted to horror, supernatural and weird fiction, and was published in the late 1980s and early 1990s.

Contributors of fiction include Graham Andrews, Chris Barnham, Peter Bayliss, Ruskin Bond, Russell Flinn, Malcolm Furnass, Dallas Clive Goffin, Peter A. Hough, Nic Howard, Roger Johnson, Rick Kennett, A.F. Kidd (Picatrix), Joel Lane, D.F. Lewis (Nemonymous), David Malpass, Geoffrey K. Nelson, Rosemary Pardoe (Ghosts & Scholars), as 'Mary Ann Allen', Donna R. Phillips, David Rowlands, Jessica Amanda Salmonson (Fantasy Macabre), Steve Sneyd (Data Dump), Derek Stanford, Mark Valentine, Ron Weighell, and Conrad Williams.

Poetry was contributed by Norman Boothroyd, Ramsey Campbell, Sharon Elton, Dwight E. Humphries, Steven Hutchinson, David Johnstone, Dave Reeder, Jessica Amanda Salmonson, William Sharp as 'Fiona Macleod', Steve Sneyd, Derek Stanford, and T. winter-damon.

Contributions of cover art work came from Dallas Clive Goffin (Cover #6, #8), Jeffrey Salmon (cover #7), and Alan Hunter (cover #9).

Contributors of illustrations included Nicholas Blinko, Jon Bush, Dave Carson, Jim Garrison, Dallas Clive Goffin, A.F. Kidd, Alfred Klosterman, Allen Koszowski, and Steve Skwarek.

Mark Valentine went on to publish the annual Aklo.

In 1990, David Cowperthwaite released the special one issue only publication, Transactions of the Doppelganger Society.
