Amusing Yourself To Death was a review zine that debuted in early 1997 out of Santa Barbara, CA and was published by Ruel Gaviola.

"AYTD is a bimonthly publication that reviews and promotes the independent press, primarily zines and other self-published works. AYTD offers useful resources for self-publishers: news, articles, advice, commentary, contacts, letters and much more. Our staff is dedicated to being a positive part of the small-press community and we look forward to working with those who share similar ideas and goals."

The writing of a number of zinesters was featured in the zine, including Marc Parker of Lazybones, Mike Tolento of Empty Life and Josh Saitz of Negative Capability.

In the late '90s Amusing Yourself To Death was a fantastic zine resource. It was published frequently enough to feature current zine news and reviews of zines sometimes less than a month after they were published. But its ambitious publishing schedule proved too much for its publisher and it folded in 1999.
