San Diego-born Adam Gnade is a writer, musician, and zinester.

As a musician, he is often lumped into the New Weird America folk music scene. He has released a number of recordings on his own, as well as with the US labels Punch Drunk Press and DeathBombArc and the UK labels Try Harder, Blessing Force, and Drowned In Sound.

He has published one novel (Hymn California, 2008), one hardcover novella on the Oxford, England press Double Suns (California, 2012), and five zine novellas (Seasons Loving Nothing 2007, The Darkness to the West 2008, Hey Hey Lonesome 2011, the Heat and the Hot Earth 2011, The Growling Mouth.) He's also the author of The Do It Yourself Guide to Fighting the Big Motherf***** Sad 2012, a split zine with ex-pat journalist Bart Schaneman (They Will Stand On You and Spit 2012), a split with Pioneers Press/Microcosm Distribution owner Jessie Duke (The Hard Fifty Farm 2012) the gluten-free vegan cookzine Let Gluten Freedom Ring (2011), a health-based zine called Get Healthy (2007) for the record label run by Sufjan Steven, Asthmatic Kitty, and a pocketsize canvas cover zine called Warning: If You Try To Do Something Different (2011.)

He is also a part of Pioneers Press, working out of Lansing, Kansas.
