Ace Backwords is a writer and cartoonist living in San Francisco. He created the comic strip Twisted Image, wrote the book Surviving on the Streets: How to Go Down Without Going Out and has contributed to many zines, including Maximum Rock and Roll. His specialty is grim satire, often mocking the excesses of the American counterculture.

For many years, Backwords has been homeless. He is usually difficult to contact.
