Absent Cause is a compzine edited by Greg Butterfield (aka redguard) of Brooklyn, New York, U.S.A.

Absent Cause explores underground and "dark" cultures (such as paganism, the gothic, and the macabre) and how those cultures are often embraced by people out of the mainstream or dealing with psychic pain. Other topics include surviving abuse, coping with mental illness and body image issues, and examining feminism and queer sexualities. The zine features interviews with a wide variety of radical activists and artists, including Jessica Mills, as well as poetry, essays, comics, and art.

The first issue of Absent Cause was published in July 2008.
