He is the founder of the College Park Community Library and the erstwhile Red Roach Press and Manual Publishing. He currently runs the Butter Lamb Reference Library and lives in the Maryland suburbs of Washington, DC.
He is a founding member of the Underground Literary Alliance and has written for zines such as Zine World: A Reader's Guide to the Underground Press. Joe Smith is a former member of the punk rock bands Snapcase and The Watchmen. He currently plays in Unring the Bell.
