Beam is a science fiction fanzine begun by Nic Farey and edited by Nic Farey with Jim Trash and Ulrika O'Brien.

Published in St. Leonard Maryland, U.S.A., and then Las Vegas, Nevada, U.S.A., Beam first appeared in the 2000s. 13 issues have been published as of 2018.

The first issue appeared in 2008. The front cover art was by Jay Kinney (Nope!), and back cover by Steve Stiles. Photographs are by Nic Farey, Jay Kinney, Gary Mattingly (The National Fantasy Fan), and Deborah Newton. Written contributions came from Randy Byers (Chunga), Rich Coad, Nic Farey, Paul di Filippo, and Ted White (BLAT!).

Issue 2 was released in 2009, and featured cover art by Brad Foster and back cover art by Dan Steffan (BLAT!). Interior art was by Alexia Gilliland, Steve Jeffery, Bill Rotsler and Steve Stiles. Photography was by Dave Barber, Nic Farey, Mary Kay Kare, Gary Mattingly, Cheryl Morgan (Emerald City), Ian Sorensen, Keith Stokes and Linda Wenzelburger. Writing was by James Bacon (Journey Planet), Claire Brialey (Banana Wings), Nic Farey, Chris Garcia (The Drink Tank), and Curt Phillips.

Issue 3 was published in May 2011, featuring front cover art by Pat Virzi (Pint-Size Stories) and back cover art by Sue Mason. Interior art is by Harry Bell (Grimwab), Brad Foster, Alexis Gilliland, Dave Hicks, Jay Kinney, and Bill Rotsler. Photography was by Harry Bell, Bruce Burn, Steve Green, Steve Hatton, Dave Hodson, Lucy Huntzinger (Rude Bitch), Gary Mattingly, Bill Mills, Mish, and Alan White. Writing was by Tony Berry, Michael Dobson, Nic Farey, Steve Green, Dave Hodson, Earl Kemp (El) and Rob Jackson (Maya), Jacq Monahan, and Theresa Cochran Taylor.

Issue 4 appeared in December 2011 and was edited by Nic Farey and Jim Trash. Interior art was by Harry Bell, Nic Farey, Brad Foster, Steve Green, Steve Jeffery, Jay Kinney, Bill Rotsler, Peter Sellers, and Taral Wayne. Photography was by David Dyer-Bennett, Nancy Hathaway, Mike Meara, Vineet Rajasekhar, Dave Romm, and Lee Wood. Writing was by Dian Crayne, John DeChancie, Nic Farey, Ken Forman, Mike Meara, Liam Proven, John Purcell (Askance), Damien Warman, and Lee Wood.

Issue 5, from October 2012, was edited by Nic Farey and Jim Trash. Issue 9, released December 2015, is edited by Nic Farey and Jim Trash, and features front and back cover art by Alison Scott (Plokta).
